Part 3: The Car Ride Home Rule

Section 3:

The Car Ride Home Rule

Many players say the hardest part of rugby is not the game.

It's the drive home afterward.

Parents often ask:

  • Why did you do that?
  • Why weren't you tackling?
  • Why didn't you pass?
  • Why were you dropped?

The athlete is often emotionally exhausted.

The Golden Question

After every game ask:

"Did you enjoy it?"

That's all.

Let them lead the conversation.

Why This Works

Immediately after competition:

Players are processing:

  • Success
  • Failure
  • Mistakes
  • Emotions
  • Team dynamics

Analysis can wait.

Connection cannot.

Parent Challenge

For the next month:

After every game ask only:

"Did you enjoy it?"

Then listen.
