Discovering Your Rugby Identity


Most players never define who they are.

They only describe what position they play.

That is not identity.


Rugby Identity Formula

I am a player who:

  • Competes with ______
  • Leads through ______
  • Contributes by ______
  • Responds to adversity by ______

Example:

I am a player who competes with relentless effort, leads through consistency, contributes through physicality and responds to adversity with composure.


Why Identity Matters

When pressure increases:

Goals disappear.

Identity remains.

A strong identity creates:

  • Consistency
  • Confidence
  • Resilience
  • Leadership

Exercise

Complete:

"I am the type of rugby player who..."

Write at least 10 statements.

Examples:

  • Finishes every session strongly
  • Encourages teammates
  • Learns from mistakes
